Thank you for your interest in the VFY Cultivating Students of Influence Seminar which will be held on January 11 & 12, 2010 in Chicago. We need to alert you to the fact that the Wyndham O’Hare Hotel is closing effective tomorrow, January 1, 2010. This was a management decision and they made this decision to close at the last minute without any prior communication to any of the groups who held contacts for meetings or rooms at their facility. However, as of today, we have secured another facility for our seminar. We are hosting the seminar at the “Rosemont Hotel O’Hare” just a few blocks from the original facility. The management at the Rosemont will honor our room rate of $79 per night for anyone who attends our events. However, you will need to call them (or reserve your room on-line) immediately to hold space and this rate.

VFY ANNOUNCES JANUARY CONFERENCE ON DEVELOPING STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Based upon the popularity of the new book The Greenhouse Project: Cultivating Students of Influence, Vision For Youth is announcing plans for an important new conference focused on the important topic of developing student leaders. This is a must-attend event for youth pastors, volunteer youth workers, pastors, other church leaders, parents of teenagers, and anyone else who works with youth. Developing student leaders may be one of the most important priorities facing student ministry in today’s culture and VFY has decided to do something about it.
On January 11 & 12, 2010, VFY will host our first-ever “Cultivating Students of Influence” Conference at the Wyndham Hotel – O’Hare in Chicago. This affordable and strategic event will be held just down the street from one of this country’s largest and busiest airports and will feature many of the writers who are featured in The Greenhouse Project co-edited by Mike Calhoun and Mel Walker. Both of those authors will be there – alongside of Tim Ahlgrim, Glenn Amos, Ed Lewis, and Ken Rudolph. Other chapter writers have been contacted about participating as well.
This entire conference will focus on the essential subject of developing student leaders. Each of the above mentioned writers will present the basic premise of their chapter in this new book - and conference participants will be given the opportunity to interact and give feedback on the topics presented.
Student ministry must be more than entertainment or programming. Youth workers today must be absolutely committed to the task of developing student leaders who are prepared to take an active role in their own churches and who can provide hands-on leadership by being role models for younger teens and pre-teens in the church. Parents and pastors will want to participate in this discussion as well. This indeed may be one of the most important events you have ever attended. Not only will each of these writers have the opportunity to present the material they researched for the book, but conference attendees will be given a significant amount of time to provide interactive reactions which will certainly lead to lively and highly-profitable discussions.
The Wyndham Hotel at O’Hare is offering an exceptional rate of only $79 per room for attendees of our “Cultivating Students of Influence” Seminar. Participants can call the hotel at 847.297.1234 and ask for the Vision For Youth rate.
The Conference fee is only $75 with spouses attending for only $40 more. Substantial group discounts are being offered for churches bringing multiple people. If the church’s youth pastor and spouse attend – all others from the same church can attend for $30 each. Full-time students can register for only $35 will proof of enrollment. (Hotel costs and meals are not included in the conference registration fees.) Registration forms are available from VFY (send a note to

Please put these dates (January 11 & 12, 2010) on your calendars now and make plans to attend this very affordable and strategic conference. Plus, at that time VFY will be announcing and presenting our plans for our all-new and reinvented National Youth Ministries Conference which will be held next Spring (March 15 – 17, 2010) in beautiful Gatlinburg, TN.
VFY has made their new “Cultivating Students of Influence” Conference very affordable and short enough in duration for all church leaders to attend along with their key volunteer or lay leaders. Youth workers also might want to consider bringing along some of your key student leaders as well. Consider taking this opportunity to focus on the crucial topic of developing student leaders.
See you then!
